Backup is not available on your computer or tablet (unless you used it as a primary device) and so you need to use your mobile phone in order for you to backup your chat history on the platform.
Keep in mind that you need to update the app to its latest version before backing up your chat history.
But before that, you need to connect your account to either Google Drive (Android) or Apple iCloud (iPhone). The tutorial may vary depending on the mobile device, but here’s how to connect:
- If you’re using an Android device, you need to open the app, tap “More”, choose “Settings”, select “Account”, tap “Viber Backup”, select the Settings in the “Not connected to Google Drive” section, and then you need to select an account that you would like to backup your chat history to.
- If you’re using an iOS device, you need to open “Settings” on your device, tap on your Apple ID, select iCloud, and you need to make sure that the app is switched “ON”.
Once done, you can start manually or automatically backup your chat history on the platform. The tutorial may vary, but here’s how to backup your chat history:
- If you want to do it manually, you need to open the app, select “More”, choose “Settings”, tap on “Account”, choose “Viber Backup”, select if you want your videos and photos to also be backed up, and then tap “Back Up”.
- If you want to do it automatically, you need to open the app, tap “More”, select “Settings”, choose on “Account”, tap “Viber Backup”, select “Auto Backup”, choose how often you want an auto backup to be performed, and select if you want your videos and photos to also be backed up.
