The Philippine government roll-out the National ID registrations during the pandemic. Countless Filipinos have already received their ID card. However, there are still those who have yet to apply but are thinking about the process that they will be going through to get the said ID card. Actually, there is a short list of PhilSys ID requirements.

The National ID is one of the many options in the list of valid IDs in the Philippines. The list is composed of primary IDs and secondary IDs. Most of the former are issued by the different government agencies while the latter includes the government offices and private entities as the issuers.

What sets the PhilSys ID apart from the many ID cards that you may obtain is that it comes with no expiry. Thus, you do not need to renew it annually unless you want to update your demographic information or your biometric information.

Not only Filipino citizens but as well as residential aliens in the country may apply for the PhilSys ID. However, in the case of the latter, it comes with an annual expiry but they can be allowed to renew their document. Here are the PhilSys ID requirements that you must prepare and submit for application:

Primary Documents (any of the following):

  • Unified Multi-purpose ldentification (UMID) Card issued by the Government Service lnsurance System (GSIS) or Social Security Systen (SSS)
  • PSA Birth Certificate and one (1) government-issued identification document which bears a full name, front-facing photograph, and signature or thumb mark
  • Student’s License Permit or Non- Professional/Professional Driver’s License issued by the LTO
  • Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)

Secondary/Supporting Documents:

  • PSA-issued Report of Birth
  • Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO)-issued Certificate of Live Birth
  • PSA Birth Certificate or National Statistics Office (NSO)-issued Certificate of Live Blrth with Birth Reference Number (BreN)
  • Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) ID
  • Seaman’s Book (Seafarer’s Record Book)
  • PSA-issued Certificate of Foundling
  • Police Clearance or ID
  • Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Identification Card
  • Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) ID
  • Social Security System (SSS) lD
  • Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID
  • Solo Parent’s ID
  • Senior Citizen’s lD issued by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and/or LocalGovernment Units (LGU)
  • National Bureau of lnvestigation (NBl) Clearance
  • Taxpayer ldentification Number (TlN) Ld
  • Voter’s lD issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)
  • Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) issued by the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA)
  • Person with Disability (PWD) lD
  • National ID from other countries
  • Postal lD issued by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PhlPost)
  • Professional ldentification Card issued by the Maritime lndustry Authority (MARINA)
  • Residence ID from other countries
  • Eligibility Card issued by the Civil Service Commission
  • Dependent’s lD lssued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP)
