John Arcilla: “Sinabi ko na na kapag lumabas ang ‘Encantadia’ ay gusto kong gumawa sa GMA-7”
JOHN ARCILLA – Here’s what the Kapamilya actor said when he was asked if he wants to be part of “Encantadia” if there would be a sequel.
It can be recalled that the veteran actor portrayed the role of “Hagorn” in the 2016 Kapuso fantasy series “Encantadia”.
John said in an interview during the ABS-CBN Ball last September 30, 2023 that he already asked permission from the ABS-CBN management and was also allowed to do projects under GMA network.
The veteran actor also said he told the ABS-CBN management that he would like to be part of “Encantadia” and work with GMA-7 if there would be a sequel.
“Nagpaalam na ako sa ABS-CBN; hindi pa nagkakaroon ng sequel ang ‘Encantadia,’ sinabi ko na na kapag lumabas ang ‘Encantadia’ ay gusto kong gumawa sa GMA-7.” he said. “I think it’s not impossible kasi sinabi nila sa akin from the very beginning [that] it’s OK to do projects with GMA, and that is official.”
Aside from this, he also talked about his hopes of doing international projects. He shared that he’s currently in talks with acclaimed Filipino-American producer Jhett Tolentino for a movie.
Among his upcoming projects is the psychological thriller movie “The Guest” where he will star alongside actor Daniel Padilla. The said film, helmed by director Jerrold Tarog, is slated for a 2024 release.
To recall, John won the Volpi Cup for “Best Actor” for his acclaimed portrayal in Erik Matti’s “On the Job: The Missing 8” at the Venice Film Festival in Italy last 2021. The veteran actor is the first Southeast Asian actor to bag the acting honor in the prestigious film festival.
According to him, when he won the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival, he was hoping that there would be more to come.
The veteran actor also said that he wish it would serve as a door for him if there are international agents or producers who will give him a chance to do some full-length projects. He added that he’s “really very open to anything, international projects”.
