Actress-TV Host Jaymee Joaquin Passes Away
JAYMEE JOAQUIN – The former actress/TV host/model/content creator passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, after her battle with breast cancer.
Jaymee, whose real name was Jaymee Geronimo Topacio, was 44. The news of her passing was announced on her own Facebook page and by her best friend, Fides VA. In a Facebook post, it was noted: “Our dearest Jaymee Topacio aka Jaymee Joaquin, Jaymee Wins officially became an angel today. You’ve lived the most beautiful life, Jaymee. You will be greatly missed on this planet. [heart emoji]”
To recall, it was in September 2016 when Jaymee was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. The following year, she shared her journey as a cancer patient through her YouTube channel titled “Jaymee Wins.”
“Ako, naniniwala ako sa puso’t kaluluwa ka na dapat kini-claim na iyong victory, di ba? Kasi fighting, may struggle pa yan, e! Bakit nag-i-struggle ka pa, e, puwede naman manalo na, di ba? So dapat claim na, Jaymee wins! I know that I will win. In my heart, I have faith in the Lord.”,” she said, explaining why she named her channel “Jaymee Wins.”
It was in 2018 when she was declared cancer-free, but the disease later returned.
Meanwhile, Jaymee Joaquin was known for hosting the ABS-CBN midnight game show “Games Uplate Live” from 2006 to 2009. She popularized the catchphrase “Kabagang.” Some of her other TV shows on the Kapamilya network included the sitcom “Bora” (2005) and the drama series “Ligaw Na Bulaklak” (2008).
She also appeared in movies such as “My Big Love” and “Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat,” both released in 2008. She graced the cover of the men’s magazine FHM five times. Jaymee surprised the public when she decided to leave showbiz and travel to various countries, including Australia, Spain, the USA, and more.
