Here’s why Daria Ramirez and Joey de Leon got separated
DARIA RAMIREZ – The actress shared the reasons behind her separation from her former husband, Joey de Leon.
During an interview with Ogie Diaz, Daria recounted that at the age of 20, she made the decision to live with Joey, who was 25 at the time. Despite their relationship resulting in the birth of their two children, Kempee and Cheenee de Leon, Daria acknowledged that their bond turned sour because she believed they were not emotionally mature enough to settle down at that point in their lives.
She reflected, “Hindi naggo-grow ‘yung aming relationship dala ng kabataan. Bata pa ako masyado eh. Hindi ko alam ang buhay may asawa. Hindi naman ako lumaki na sinabihan ako ng mama ko. Late na nung sinabi ng mama, actually buntis na ako noon… Hindi pumasok sa isip nila na bigla akong mag-aasawa. Hindi pa nila tanggap.” She added: “Actually, pareho lang kami eh [Joey]. Nabigla rin ‘yung kabila, nabigla rin ‘yung pamilya ko. Hindi ko alam ‘yung mga dos and don’ts [sa pag-aasawa].”
Daria mentioned that she opted to live independently but admitted she faced financial hardships and had to rely on her friends for support. This led her to make a public plea to her former partner, reminding the veteran comedian of the part she played in his life.
Struggling financially, Daria expressed her constant concern about how to manage her expenses and often pondered who she could turn to for help. She conveyed her hope for Joey to acknowledge her presence in his life, despite their past, and to forgive each other. She hoped he would understand that those chapters were over and that they should move forward in peace.
As of press time, Joey de Leon has yet to issue any reaction to the revelations of Daria Ramirez.
