Efren Bata Reyes was defeated by a 9-year-old boy in an exhibition game

EFREN BATA REYES – A 9-year-old boy named Chasz Uy experienced immense joy after defeating “The Magician” in an exhibition game on October 11 at the SM City Bacolod Main Atrium with a score of 4-1. It was Chasz’s wish to play a 10-ball billiards game against “The Magician” and world champion, Reyes.

Chasz, a Grade 4 student, is the youngest player to sign up for the 2nd Mayor Albee Benitez 10-ball billiards tournament. Philip Andrew Uy, Chasz’s father, stated that even though his son lost twice before facing Reyes, Chasz never lost hope in continuing his journey. He added that, at Chasz’s age, this achievement is already significant.

Django Bustamante, who played with Chasz in his first match, acknowledged the young boy’s talent. Philip admitted that his son is good at the game but needs more exposure to various tournaments. He mentioned that Chasz got overly excited and missed most of his shots during the exhibition game due to the crowd recording his match against Django.

“Not all titled billiards player get to challenge an Efren Reyes. Even if this is just an exhibition game, it will be memorable to Chasz and even for that, this is all worth it,” Chasz’s father added. Reyes also signed Chasz’s tournament shirt as a token of their memorable match.

Meanwhile, Efren Manalang Reyes, also known as “Bata” and “The Magician,” is a professional pool player considered the greatest of all time. He’s renowned for his exceptional skills and has won over 100 international titles.
