SMNI NEWS – The official Facebook page of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s news television network has disappeared from the social media platform.

SMNI News Channel is a Philippine far-right religious free-to-air news television network based in Makati City. It is owned by Swara Sug Media Corporation, the parent company of Sonshine Media Network International, a religious broadcasting arm of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ led by Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

The network offers various programs, including news shows like “Balita ng Bansa” and “SMNI Newsblast,” public affairs and commentary shows like “Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao Pilipinas Muna!” and “Statecraft with Sass Rogando-Sasot,” public service programs, health and infotainment shows, and Kingdom-related content.

SMNI has faced controversies, including allegations of far-right bias and red-tagging. In July 2023, YouTube terminated its channels due to alleged violations of guidelines and allegations of red-tagging misinformation. SMNI and Quiboloy later created accounts on alternative platforms.

The news television network is currently making waves online after its official Facebook page disappeared. The disappearance of SMNI’s official Facebook page on Friday, September 15, occurred just a few months after its YouTube channel was shut down.

It is worth noting that some of its hosts were recently hit with a P2 million civil suit by journalist Atom Araullo due to red-tagging.

Meanwhile, red tagging, also known as red-baiting, is a term used to describe the act of labeling individuals, groups, or organizations as communist, socialist, or left-wing radicals, often without concrete evidence to support such claims. It is typically used as a tactic to discredit and demonize individuals or entities who hold political beliefs or engage in activism that may be critical of the government or those in power.
