Mackenyu Arata, who portrays Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action adaptation, is set to visit Manila
MACKENYU ARATA – The actor who portrays the character of Roronoa Zoro in the Netflix live-action adaptation of “One Piece,” is scheduled to visit Manila.
“One Piece” is a fantasy and adventure TV series available for streaming on Netflix, based on the popular Japanese manga created by Eiichiro Oda. The storyline follows the Straw Hat Pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy, on their quest to find the legendary treasure called the “One Piece.”
The main cast of the show features Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The series introduces a diverse array of characters, each possessing their own unique abilities and ambitions.
A notable character in the live adaptation of One Piece that has gained the admiration of viewers is Roronoa Zoro, also known as “Pirate Hunter” Zoro. He is the initial member to join the Straw Hat Pirates and is portrayed by the acclaimed actor Mackenyu Arata, commonly referred to as Mackenyu.
Filipino fans of One Piece, especially those who idolize Mackenyu, will have the opportunity to meet him in person as he is scheduled to visit Manila this coming November. The Japanese actor will be the headliner at ManiPopCon 2023, which will take place at Ayala Malls Manila Bay from November 17 to 19, 2023.
Meanwhile, aside from One Piece, Mackenyu has also starred in several manga adaptations, including JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Chapter I (2017), Tokyo Ghoul S (2019), and as the antagonist Yukishiro Enishi in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final (2021). He also portrayed Pegasus Seiya in Knights of the Zodiac.
