PSHS, also known as Pisay, is a recognized brand specializing in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. It operates as an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). In addition, it offers free tuition, free loan of textbooks, a monthly stipend, a uniform, transportation, and living allowances for low-income groups, as well as dormitory accommodation (if applicable).

Grade 6 students who meet the criteria can submit the application requirements on or before October 13, 2023. The scheduled National Competitive Examination (NCE) is on November 18, 2023. Here are the things to be considered:

Criteria for Eligibility

A current Grade 6 (SY 2023-2024) student from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for the PSHS National Competitive Examination.

He/She Must:

  • have a final grade of 85% or better in Science and Mathematics, as evidenced by the student’s report card. (If the student’s grades in Science or Math are below 85%, then he or she must provide evidence that he or she belongs to the upper 10% of the batch.)
  • a Filipino citizen with no pending or approved application as an immigrant to any foreign country;
  • not be more than 15 years old by June 30, 2024;
  • have at least a satisfactory rating (or its equivalent) in his or her character rating in his or her report card (SY 2022-2023);
  • has not previously applied for admission to PSHS; and
  • preferably be in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program.

Application Requirement

In terms of the application requirements, there are two options to choose from.

For walk-in applicants:

  • fully completed application form, download at https://pshs.edu.ph/ (incomplete form will not be processed);
  • recent 1×1 ID pictures
  • non-refundable PHP 300 processing fee for private school students (based on the applicant’s Grade 5 school);
  • free or no processing fee for public school students and students with full scholarships from private schools;
  • certified true copy of the report card (SY 2022-2023) by the class adviser or principal.
  • If the final grades in science or math are below 85%, certification or proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch
  • certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on a full scholarship.

 For applicants online:

  • scanned or digitized copy of most recent 1×1 ID pictures
  • scanned or digitized copy of proof of payment of the Php 300 processing fee for students who were admitted to a private school in fifth grade (payment can be made on https://nce.pshs.edu.ph/);
  • free or no processing fee for public school students and students with full scholarships from private schools;
  • scanned or digitalized copy of a certified true copy of the report card (SY 2022-2023) by the class adviser or principal.
  • a scanned or digital copy of a certification of proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if the final grades in science or math are below 85%,
  • certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on a full scholarship.

 Application Process

The application process at PSHS is not that complicated. Interested student applicants may apply directly to the nearest PSHS campus, DOST Regional Offices, or Provincial Science and Technology Offices. Also, you can submit your applications online at https://pshs.edu.ph/.

There is a processing fee of PHP 300 for students from private schools. Payment is made upon submission of the application for paying applicants. It can also be made online after completing the online form. For walk-in applicants, they can pay in cash at the cashier’s office. On the contrary, the processing fee is free for students coming from public and private schools.

There will be a total of 1,920 qualifiers selected to enroll as incoming seventh graders for SY 2024–2025 at the campus of their choice. The initial and final list of qualifiers will be posted at pshs.edu.ph. Likewise, the campus registrars will also notify the qualifiers.
