Meet Lola Gaming, a 74-Year-Old MLBB Streamer

Get to know about MLBB streamer Lola Gaming

MLBB STREAMERR – Carmen Taqueban, also known as Lola Gaming, has made a name for herself in the world of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Often, it’s the youth who get engrossed in playing mobile games, like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, a popular gaming title in the Philippines. However, a 74-year-old grandmother named Carmen Taqueban, also known as Lola Gaming, has proven that age is not a barrier to enjoying video games.

Carmen Taqueban, who now has 145,000 followers on Facebook, shared her story of how she started playing ML:BB because of her grandchild. She started during the pandemic, and she saw the young ones always focused on playing. She said, ‘bakit lagi kayo nakaupo diyan?’ at di na tumutulong sa bahay” Taqueban revealed during an interview at the opening of MPL Season 12 in Makati.

As she tried it out while her grandchild was streaming, she noticed that her views were increasing. “Hindi ko nga alam kung tama ang mga pinipindot ko eh,” she jokingly said. “Masaya ako, na miski may edad ka na may mapagaano ka ng time na masaya ka, iba talaga ang dating eh. Sinasabi ko nga sa [kapwa matanda] o, mag-ML din kayo.”

Lola Gaming admits that she spends a lot of time playing and sometimes plays for up to 8 hours a day. “Ako na nga pinagsasabihan ng mga apo ko,” she said with a playful tone. Because of her streaming, Taqueban became a member of Amplify, which is owned by Tier One Entertainment, a gaming talent and esports organization co-founded by Alodia Gosiengfiao and Tryke Gutierrez.

In closing, she has a message for the youth who are into gaming. “Ang pinaka-priority ay ang pagaaral sapagkat yan ang dadalhin niyo hangganag sa tumanda kayo,” Taqueban emphasized.
