Following the suspension of “It’s Showtime,” fans of the noontime program expressed their disappointment to MTRCB chair Lala Sotto
LALA SOTTO – Fans of the TV show “It’s Showtime” have expressed their disappointment with the chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) after the government agency suspended the Kapamilya show for a duration of 12 airing days.
Many on Twitter accused Sotto of showing favoritism toward her father’s show, “E.A.T,” which happens to be a direct competitor to “It’s Showtime.” On social media, people have pointed out a past violation by “E.A.T,” involving one of its hosts, Wally Bayola, who had made inappropriate remarks during one of the show’s segments. Some netizens argue that the MTRCB should also take similar action against “E.A.T.”
One netizen named Rob voiced his opinion by saying, “Lala Sotto and MTRCB, remind ko lang kayo sa pagmumura ni Wally Bayola ng PUT*NG IN* on national TV. Since you decided to suspend It’s Showtime for 12 days, any penalties below that which will be assigned to E.A.T. will not be accepted by the masses!”
Another netizen asked if “E.A.T” will also face suspension like “It’s Showtime.” It can be recalled that approximately a month ago, the producers of “It’s Showtime” were summoned by MTCRB due to the viral cake-eating scene between hosts and real-life couple Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.
As of the time of this writing, the MTRCB has not yet announced its decision regarding the case involving “E.A.T.” It’s worth noting that Wally Bayola had already issued an apology for his actions, but the agency still summoned the producers of their show for further discussion.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya Network has affirmed that they will submit a Motion for Reconsideration to “humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law.”
