Vice Ganda shares details on road crash
VICE GANDA – The Unkabogable Star and “It’s Showtime” host provided details about the accident in which he was involved during the early hours of Sunday, August 20.
The comedian shared with MJ Felipe that at that moment, he was inside his car, heading to Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to meet his co-host, Vhong Navarro. They were reportedly on their way to the birthday party of actor Wendell Ramos.
They had just left the subdivision when Vice suddenly heard a loud crash, which he described as resembling a bomb explosion. During those moments, the comedian was merely playing an online game.
When they checked what had happened, they saw that a collision had occurred involving the vehicles behind them, including theirs. It turns out they had been hit by a truck owned by a well-known online delivery service.
Vice immediately got out of his car and assisted the couple inside the Mercedes Benz, as well as the driver of the truck that had collided with them. Vice mentioned that he was fine because his car was a “Cadillac Escalade,” which he described as really sturdy, so he wouldn’t feel anything inside, even if there was an accident outside.
Considering the extent of the damage to the back of his car, he said, “Sa sobrang tigas ng kotse mo (Cadillac Escalade) na nawasak yung likod, ibig sabihin sobrang lakas ng bangga niya, kasi hindi ‘yon mawawasak nang gano’n…”
Vice expressed sympathy for the truck driver because it seemed like the company and the truck’s contractor were trying to hold the driver accountable for the incident, even though it was really the truck driver’s fault. “Oo tama kasalanan naman talaga ng driver ‘di ba, pero nakakaawa rin. Paano niya sasagutin ‘yong Cadillac, at Mercedes Benz at may dalawa pa siyang nabangga… paano ‘yon? Kaya pakiusap ko, sana tulungan naman nila yung driver. Tulungan ng contractor niya… tutal malaking kompanya naman ‘yon,” he said.
In the end, Vice mentioned that he might also file a case, but he wasn’t sure if he would include the driver in his legal action. “Ako rin magsasampa rin, kasi hindi naman puwedeng ganon-ganon lang ‘di ba? Someone is accountable. Kung ‘yong driver man… pero sana bigyan naman ng assistance ng [kompanya] at contractor niya, huwag namang iwanan nang mag-isa ‘yong driver. Kaya nga sabi ko, tutulong lang ba sila o magbibigay lang ba sila ng reaksiyon kung may namatay?” he noted.
