Nowadays, at least two (2) valid identification cards or IDs are requested in processing certain legal transactions. These includes applying for a loan, buying a house, getting a car, booking a ticket, filing a claim benefit, and opening a bank account. Thus, it is important to have a set of valid IDs ahead of time.
One of the valid IDs in the Philippines that you may apply for is the Postal ID. It is issued by Philippine Postal Corporation or the PhilPost. There are several PhilPost offices across the nation and most people prefer applying for this type of ID because of the definite releasing.
If you are applying for this ID that comes with a three-year validity period and you are living or working inside Metro Manila, it will take 15 days for the processing. If you are living or working outside Metro Manila, it will take around 20 days. However, if you are leaving in remote areas, the processing may take as much as 30 since you filed the requirements which you can check below.
There are documents that you must prepare and submit to PHLPost in applying for the Postal ID. For a guide, here are the Postal ID requirements for application set by the government office:
- two (2) duly-accomplished Postal ID Application Form
- proof of identity
- PSA Birth Certificate, SSS ID, UMID ID, GSIS ID, passport, or driver’s license; or
- any two (2) of the following valid IDs:
- Alumni ID
- Baptismal certificate
- Confirmation certificate
- Company ID
- Elementary or High School Form 137
- IBP ID
- NBI clearance
- OWWA ID
- Pag-IBIG ID
- PhilHealth ID
- Police clearance
- PRC ID
- Seaman’s Book
- Senior citizen ID
- School ID
- Transcript of Records
- TIN ID
- Voter’s ID
- proof of address (any of the following):
- electric bill, water bill, internet bill, cable bill, or other utility bill
- Barangay Certificate issued within three (3) months prior to the Postal ID application
- Bank Statement
- credit card billing statement
- Certificate True Copy of titles or lease
In case the person requesting for a Postal ID is female and married, she must include in her documentary requirements a Marriage Certificate. The said ID application is not only open for Filipinos but as well as foreign residents in the country. However, here is a different set of requirements that must be submitted to PHLPost if the applicant is a foreign resident:
- two (2) filled-out copies of the Postal ID Application Form
- Passport valid for six months before postal ID application
- proof of address under the name of the foreigner applicant and must be issued within three (3) months before the Postal ID application
- Barangay Certificate of Residency
- Bank statement
- Credit card statement
- Certification or statement of account from a transient home, hotel, or another temporary residential property
- School billing statement
- Notarized land, house, or condominium lease contract
- Utility bill
