Michael V.: “‘Yung mga content creators dapat alam n’yo ang salitang content. I’d like to say it’s a reminder.”
MICHAEL V. – The content creator and comedian said that his “Oh Wow!” parody song is a “reminder” for content creators and not a diss track.
It can be recalled that Bitoy’s new parody song was premiered on the “Bubble Gang” episode last July 30, 2023. Titled “Oh Wow! By Hilaw”, the parody song is inspired by the hit song “Uhaw” by OPM indie rock collective group Dilaw.
The “Oh Wow!” video was posted on YoüLOL’s YouTube channel and on Bubble Gang’s Facebook page. As of this writing, the video became #4 on Trending videos on YouTube and has 4.5 million views on Facebook. In the said video, the comedian can be seen as a one-man team doing the guitar, keyboard, bass, and vocals all by himself.
While Dilaw’s “Uhaw” is about the thirst for all forms of love, Hilaw’s “Oh Wow!” is about mediocre social media content.
In a report on GMA News’ “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the comedian said that the parody song is a “reminder” to content creators to keep challenging themselves in their craft. According to him, he thinks a lot of people can relate to his parody song.
“Ang dami yatang naka-relate. Nagiging toxic na rin kasi ang mga content creators ngayon,” he said.
Bitoy also reminded content creators – including himself – that they should know the word “content”. The comedian also said he hopes that content creators can inspire a generation that says, “Ah, hindi pa puwede, puwede pang pagandahin.”
According to him, he admires Dilaw for their story and their success. He also said that the band is passionate about what they do, adding that he hopes everyone is “uhaw sa excellence”.
Dilaw, meanwhile, saw the “Oh Wow!” video and thanked Michael V. for making a parody of their hit song.
