Rosmarie Tan Pamulaklakin, also known as Rosmar Tan, gained attention online for her single “Manalamin.” The song received mixed reactions, with some expressing disappointment in her voice quality and the relevance of the song.
On the other hand, former member of “The Hunks,” Carlos Agassi, stirred discussions on social media with his song titled “Milk Tea.” Particularly, the LGBTQIA+ community criticized the lyrics for having a double meaning and accused him of being “transphobic” which means having or showing a dislike of or strong prejudice against transgender people.
Some lines from the song include: “Pagbaba ng p@nty, mga mata’y napadilat. ‘Put*ng-ina,’ ako’y napamura sa gulat. Venti ang kaniyang milk tea! Sa dami ng binibini, nakabingwit ako ng binabaiiiiihhhh…” Carlos maintained that he respects all genders and that their interpretation of the song is not his fault.
Liam Lerio TV expressed his opinion about the song in a statement obtained by Pilipinas Today. He said, “Nanawagan ako, Rosmar at Carlos Agassi, patunayan n’yo sa sarili n’yo na hindi kayo ginagamit ng mga alien.” As expected, his message to the two aspiring singers received reactions from netizens.
