Pura Luka Vega is facing a complaint filed by devotees of Black Nazarene
HIJOS DEL NAZARENO (HDN) CENTRAL – The devotees of the Black Nazarene in the Philippines filed a complaint against controversial drag artist Pura Luka Vega.
On Thursday, the Black Nazarene devotees went to the Manila Regional Trial Court to file a case against the drag artist, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente, for violating Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The case was in connection to the viral video of him dancing to the Filipino Lord’s Prayer “Ama Namin” remix version while portraying Jesus Christ.
But according to Hijos Del Nazareno, they are ready to withdraw the case they filed against the drag artist if he asks for forgiveness. To recall, it was just recently when Pura Luka Vega issued a statement regarding the persona non grata declarations issued against him.
“Tell me EXACTLY what I did wrong. I’m open to a dialogue, yet cities have been declaring persona non grata without even knowing me or understanding the intent of the performance. Drag is art. You judge me, yet you don’t even know me,” he noted.
The drag artist has been declared “unwelcome” in several local government units including Manila City, Laguna, Cagayan de Oro City, Floridablanca, Nueva Ecija, San Pablo City, Toboso, General Santos City, and Bukidnon.
Among the latest to react to the persona non grata declarations against Pura Luka Vega is Ariel Villasanta. In a Facebook post, he noted that people judge him because of his actions.
“Try mong e-mock si Allah, malamang alla ka na din sa mundo,” he said. “E-mock mo na din si Satanas para persona non grata ka sa impierno! De ligtas ka diba!” he added.
