Babalu Look-Alike Driving the Truck Goes Viral

Spotted: A Look-alike of Babalu

BABALU – A look-alike of the late comedian, driving a truck, has gone viral, garnering mixed reactions from netizens.

Babalu, whose real name is Pablo Martin Sarmiento, was a renowned comedian and actor. He earned his stage name from his distinctive long, sharp chin, often a subject of on-screen humor, frequently even initiated by himself.

Babalu held a prominent place in the world of entertainment as one of the most beloved and greatest comedians in the Philippines. He was the nephew of the famous actor Panchito Alba, and it was the legendary Dolphy, known as the king of Philippine Comedy, who discovered Babalu’s comedic talent. He gained fame through featured roles in the country’s leading comedy-variety show, Buhay Artista, and appeared in various movies and television programs, including “Home Along Da Riles” and “Oki Doki Doc.”

Throughout his career, Babalu graced the big screen with numerous roles in various films, showcasing his versatility and comedic flair. Some of his notable works include “Ibong Adarna,” “My Juan En Only,” “Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay,” and “Haba-Baba-Doo, Puti-Puti-Poo,” among others.

Tragically, Babalu’s health took a downturn in March 1998. He sought treatment in Michigan and when he returned to the Philippines in a weakened state, he succumbed to liver cirrhosis on August 27, 1998, just two months after his 56th birthday.

Although it has been years since he’s gone, the memories of Babalu continue to live on as people try to imitate him, both intentionally and unintentionally. Speaking of which, a truck driver who bears a striking resemblance to Babalu has caught the attention of netizens.

Netizens couldn’t help but react to the photo retrieved by the Facebook page “Alamat ni Babalu.” The photo was accompanied by the caption: “Mga legend lang nakakaalam kung sino siya.”
