Makabayan bloc seeks probe on new logo of PAGCOR
PAGCOR NEW LOGO – The Makabayan bloc has called for an investigation into the Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corporation regarding its decision to change its logo, claiming that it was a misuse of funds. Representatives France Castro, Arlene Brosas, and Raoul Manuel filed House Resolution 1120, urging the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability to conduct the investigation.
The bloc highlighted the contract worth P3.036 million for the procurement of a new logo design, which was awarded to PrintPlus Graphic Services. They criticized PAGCOR for spending such a significant amount of taxpayer’s money on a logo replacement while pressing issues like inflation, worker’s wages, job creation, and poverty reduction remain unresolved.
Furthermore, the bloc mentioned the negative feedback received by the new logo online. Netizens pointed out similarities between the logo and those of a noodle brand and a petroleum company, and some even remarked that the logo, costing P3.036 million, appeared to be the work of a first-grade or kindergarten student.
Representative Castro stressed the importance of conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need to prevent any irregularities in government procurement processes. She stated that it is their duty to ensure the responsible and judicious use of public funds.
Castro also expressed her frustration, remarking, “Lubog na nga ang Pillpinas sa utang… tapos nagsasayang ng pera sa ganito.” As of press time, PAGCOR has yet to issue any statement regarding the criticisms that agency has been receiving.
