Andrea Brillantes: “Iniyak ko na ‘yon dati kasi sabi daw wala itong cure.”
ANDREA BRILLANTES – The actress lamented how congenital anosmia prevents her from having a “complete life experience”.
To recall, Andrea said in an interview with Vice Ganda that thinking about her ex-boyfriend’s soiled laundry helps her to move on.
Andrea released a comeback vlog on her YouTube channel where she spoke about having no sense of smell and she also lamented how congenital anosmia prevents her from having a “complete life experience”.
As seen in a vlog on her YouTube channel, Andrea Brillantes and Vice Ganda played the “Never Have I Ever” game with a twist.
In the said game, Andrea and Vice were given statements which they would label it as “never” if they have never done it and “I have” if they already have done it in the past. They would have to eat one of the ingredients in front of them – ginger, garlic, siling labuyo, and lemon – if they answered “I Have”.
Vice Ganda asked Andrea about her reason why she likes ingredients that would make one’s mouth smell bad. According to Andrea, she doesn’t have a sense of smell. The actress shared that she was born without the ability to smell and that’s the reason why she doesn’t know that those ingredients smell bad.
When asked how she feels being diagnosed with congenital anosmia, Andrea Brillantes said that I cried over it because I was told that it has no cure. She also told Vice Ganda said that she feels sad because her life experience is not complete, adding that she can’t smell the celebrities she meet.
National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) defined congenital anosmia as a condition in which people are “born with a lifelong inability to smell” and this condition may be associated with a specific genetic disorder or may occur as an “isolated abnormality”.
In the same vlog, Andrea said that she has never gone out of her way to speak ill of her fellow celebrities. She shared that she would only “speak [her] truth” if other people asked it from her.
