Larry Gadon Says Disbarment Does Not Affect His Position As Anti-Poverty Czar

Larry Gadon: “That decision handed out by the Supreme Court doesn’t affect my appointment and position as presidential adviser on poverty alleviation”

LARRY GADON – The anti-poverty czar said that disbarment does not affect his position as Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation.

The Supreme Court En Banc, unanimously voting 15-0, resolved to disbar Gadon following his profane remarks against journalist Raissa Robles in a viral video clip.

Malacañang announced on Monday that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed Gadon as anti-poverty czar.

The anti-poverty czar said in an interview on ANC’s Headstart that the Supreme Court’s decision to disbar him does not affect his appointment and position as Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation.

That decision handed out by the Supreme Court doesn’t affect my appointment and position as presidential adviser on poverty alleviation because it doesn’t require a lawyer,” Gadon said.

He also described his disbarment as “a political decision rather than a meritorious decision” after having filed impeachment complaints against Associate Justice Marvic Leonen and former Chief Justice Maria Loudes Sereno.

Gadon also said that the Supreme Court was “very choosy”.

He said that he had “no regrets” of his previous action that led to his disbarment, adding that his outburst came because the journalist was allegedly spreading lies against PBBM during the campaign period.

I’m still proud that if ever I was discharged from the Bar, it was not because I stole money of a client or because I am corrupt or because I am dumb in the practice of law,” Gadon said.

Meanwhile, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said that the disbarment of Larry Gadon wouldn’t affect his new role. According to Bersamin, the President “believes he will do a good job”.
