Hidilyn Diaz: “It was a humbling experience”
HIDILYN DIAZ – The Olympic gold medalist spoke about being a judge in the grand coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas 2023.
Days after the pageant’s grand coronation night, the Filipina weightlifter shared a series of photos on her social media account as she looked back on her experience as one of the judges in the beauty pageant.
The Olympic gold medalist was joined by Miss International 2022 Jasmin Selberg, actress Dolly de Leon, actor Piolo Pascual, Tatler Philippines’ Editor-in-Chief Anton San Diego, businessman Peter Zwiener, content creator Small Laude, SB19 member Josh Cullen, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan, and Presidential son Vincent Marcos.
In the caption of her post, Hidilyn said that she found herself in a different setting as she had the honor of being one of the pageant’s judging panel. She also shared that it was a “humbling experience” to share the panel with other notable personalities.
“To embrace your fears, represent your beliefs, and uplift others – that’s the true essence of a winner with beauty and advocacy,” she said.

Hidilyn then congratulated all “smart, beautiful, and confident” candidates who joined the beauty pageant at that time.
It was last month when the Filipina weightlifter represented the Philippines at the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships. At that time, she placed 4th when she competed in the 59-kg category.
According to her, it brings her closer to her ultimate goal of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“There are 3 to 4 more Olympic Qualification events to qualify for Paris 2024,” Hidilyn said at that time. “My team and I are determined to work hard towards our goal for Paris 2024.”
