In Murcia, 11 solar lights were stolen
MURCIA – A group of thieves has stolen 11 solar lights along the road that leads to Barangay Sta. Cruz in the said town on Monday night, May 29. The incident has raised concerns among local authorities and residents alike.
According to Police Major Marc Joeil Reclamado, the head of the Murcia PNP, the thieves deliberately dismantled the foundations of the streetlight posts, causing them to collapse. Aside from that, they also stole the 11 solar lights and their accompanying panels. The stolen items have an estimated value of around 55,000 pesos, representing a significant loss for the community.
Reclamado confirmed that the authorities have identified a person of interest in connection with the crime, but further evidence is still being gathered to build a strong case. The police are actively investigating the incident to bring those responsible to justice and prevent similar acts from occurring in the future.
In response to this incident, the police chief has issued an appeal to vendors and sellers of solar lights. He urged them to promptly report any suspicious individuals or attempts to sell stolen streetlights to the authorities. By cooperating with law enforcement, these vendors can play a vital role in preventing the circulation of stolen goods and aiding in the investigation.
It is worth noting that the streetlights in question were relatively new, having been installed just a month ago. According to Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, they were intended to provide illumination and enhance the safety of residents returning to Barangay Sta. Cruz during nighttime hours.
