Retired PNP General Dies After Being Trapped in House Fire

A retired PNP general died in a fire incident

FIRE INCIDENT – A former general of the Philippine National Police died after his house in Brgy. Tandang Sora, Quezon City, caught fire on Wednesday night.

Ret. Gen. George Ancheta found himself trapped within his burning residence located in the Carmel 3 Subdivision. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) swiftly initiated an investigation into the incident. Their preliminary findings point to a neglected candle as the source of the fire that consumed the house.

Reports have revealed that the couple who owned the house had a solemn ritual of lighting a candle each night in their deceased child’s room. This poignant act, performed as a loving tribute, took a tragic turn on this fateful night.

Adding to the unfortunate sequence of events was the fact that the house itself was aged and made primarily of wood. Its weathered condition made it vulnerable to the relentless advance of the flames. The wooden floors, walls, and windows on the second floor served as fuel for the fire’s rapid escalation and spread. In the face of such combustible materials, the flames devoured the structure with terrifying speed.

Miraculously, the wife of the retired PNP general and their housemaid managed to escape the engulfing inferno. Amidst the chaos, firefighters valiantly battled the fierce blaze, striving to bring it under control. It was during their heroic efforts that they made the heartbreaking discovery. On the ground floor of the house, beneath what used to be their haven, the lifeless body of Ret. Gen. George Ancheta, aged seventy-six, was found.
