Waitress Gets Fired for Accepting $4,400 Tip From Customers

A restaurant fired a waitress for accepting $4,400 in full because the manager only wants her to get 20 percent of the total amount.

Working as a waitress can be a challenging job, especially given the fact that the pay isn’t always great in most restaurants.

However, many servers are able to supplement their income with tips from satisfied customers. But when a waitress received an exceptionally large tip of $4,400, she was fired from her job simply for accepting the entire amount

The incident occurred when Ryan Brandt, a waitress at Oven & Tap in Arkansas, waited on a large group of over 40 business executives. The group had decided to pool their money together and leave a generous tip for the servers who had taken care of them.

When the tip was counted, it amounted to over $4,000. Brandt was overjoyed by the large tip, and she immediately thanked the group for their generosity.

However, her happiness was short-lived when her manager told her that she was only entitled to 20% of the tip, and that the rest would be split between the other workers at the restaurant. Despite this, the customers who left the large tip, led by businessman David Wise, wanted Brandt to have the entire amount.

When Wise learned of the situation, he went back to the restaurant to reclaim the tip and give it to Brandt himself. However, this act of kindness ultimately led to Brandt’s dismissal. According to reports, Brandt was fired for violating company policy.

The incident sparked a wave of outrage on social media, with many people expressing their support for Brandt and their frustration with the restaurant’s management. Wise and his colleagues even went so far as to set up a GoFundMe page for Brandt, which quickly raised over $8,700 in just a few days.

We fully honored their request. Out of respect for our highly valued team members, we do not discuss the details surrounding the termination of an employee,” the restaurant stated.
