Passenger Opens Emergency Exit Mid-flight on Asiana Airlines

A passenger on Asiana Airlines suddenly opened the emergency exit in the middle of the flight

ASIANA AIRLINES – A passenger on one of their flights opened an emergency exit as the aircraft was preparing to land.

The Airbus A321-200, carrying nearly 200 passengers, was approaching Daegu International Airport on a domestic flight when the incident took place. The passenger sitting near the emergency exit manually opened the door by touching the lever when the plane was about 200 meters above the ground.

This unexpected action caused some passengers to experience breathing difficulties, and several people were taken to the hospital after landing. However, there were no major injuries or significant damage reported.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, nine people were hospitalized as a result of the incident. The passenger who opened the door has been handed over to the police for questioning to determine the motive behind the action.

Videos of the incident circulated online, showing the wind rushing through the open door during the flight, causing seat-backs and passengers’ hair to sway vigorously, leading to shouts of surprise. Another video depicted passengers seated in the emergency exit row being affected by strong winds while trying to shield themselves by gripping the armrests and turning away from the open door.

The incident raised concerns about aviation safety and the importance of following proper protocols during flights. Opening emergency exits without valid reasons can endanger the lives of passengers and disrupt the normal operations of the aircraft. Airlines and authorities continually emphasize the need for passengers to adhere to safety regulations and report any suspicious activities or behaviors that may compromise the well-being of everyone on board.
