Woman takes a stand against body shaming following her cousin’s experience
STOP BODY SHAMING – Cleng Escalante, a 28-year-old netizen, recently took a stand against body shaming after her cousin, Precious Aguilar, was subjected to humiliation at a bar-restaurant.
In a Facebook post, Cleng emphasized the importance of not repeatedly reminding someone about their weight and criticized the act of publicly body shaming to appear humorous. Cleng recounted how her cousin was greeted by a college classmate, but the acquaintance’s companions began making derogatory comments about Precious’ weight, causing her distress.
Cleng questioned the purpose of such remarks and expressed disappointment in the bar-restaurant owner for defending the body shamers.
The incident deeply affected Cleng and Precious, as the bar-restaurant had been their regular safe space where they enjoyed spending time together. Cleng shared her frustration and called for awareness and accountability regarding body shaming behavior, highlighting the emotional toll it takes on individuals. She urged people to think before they speak, especially if their words lack value or contribute to someone’s pain.
Her post garnered significant attention, indicating support for the fight against body shaming. Here’s the whole post:
So this is the scene para mas maintindihan ng iba:
I mean???? Para san???? Anong na-achieve mo after mo sabihin yan? Napatawa mo yung mga kainuman mo? O tapos? Witty ka na nyan? Bida ka na nyan? Main character ka na nyan? Edi congrats. (emojis)
Huuuuy. Enlightenment me please.
Think twice before you speak.
Sabi pa ng owner ng fivemonkeys saken “Don’t look at me like that.” Malamang???
(emoji)”
