Here’s a rare look at a cloud iridescence spotted in Bacolod City
CLOUD IRIDESCENCE – A resident photographer in Bacolod City caught a glimpse of a “cloud iridescence” or “rainbow clouds”.
According to scijinks.gov, a “cloud iridescence” or “rainbow clouds” happens because of “diffraction” or a phenomenon that occurs when small ice crystals or small water droplets scatter the sun’s light.
On Monday, Bacolod-based photographer Dan Dan posted a series of photos on the Facebook page of Eskapo (stylized as “E s k a p o”) where he caught a glimpse of “cloud iridescence” in an undisclosed location in the city.
According to the photographer, the photos were taken last Sunday, May 14, 2023. He even included an information about “rainbow clouds” in the caption of his post on Eskapo‘s Facebook page.
“A Cloud iridescence view in BACOLOD CITY Yesterday,” the caption reads.

His post already has more than 2,200 reactions and more than 3,600 shares as of this writing. In the comments section of the said post, netizens also said that they also saw “rainbow clouds” as well.
The photographer also called out some Facebook pages who posted his photos about “rainbow clouds” without his permission.
Aside from Dan Dan, Negros-based photographer Warren Guillano also managed to take photos of “rainbow clouds”. In his post last May 14, Warren said that he took those photos “somewhere in Bacolod City”.
“Afternoon View somewhere in Bacolod City,” Warren said in the caption of his post.
