THEFT – The iPad of a UAAP player, who’s also part of the SEA Games in Cambodia, was stolen while they were on a ship.
A UAAP player who was also part of the SEA Games in Cambodia became a victim of theft while onboard a ship heading towards Batangas port. Abegail Manzano, 22 years old, was waiting to dock at Batangas port when the theft occurred at around 2 o’clock in the morning.
CCTV footage shows a woman sitting next to the victim while she was sleeping. After a while, Manzano changed seats and dozed off again while waiting for the ship to dock. The old woman, who had her head covered with a cloth, approached the victim and tried to wake her up. When there was no response, the woman took the victim’s iPad from her bag and quickly left the accommodation area of the ship.
Manzano only realized that her iPad was missing when she woke up. She had attended the opening of the provincial meet in Occidental Mindoro’s Sablayan town and was hurrying back to UP Diliman for an exam when the incident happened. Manzano is scheduled to compete in the track and field event at the SEA Games in Cambodia.
