Dance number of Seth Fedelin and Edward Barber on ASAP criticized
SETH FEDELIN AND EDWARD BARBER – The recent performance of the two Kapamilya stars on the long-running musical variety show “ASAP Natin ‘To” last Sunday, April 2, has been criticized on social media, particularly on Twitter, as many viewers felt that the two actors lacked practice.
Several spliced videos have circulated showing that the steps of the two actors did not match, and they tried to cover up their mistakes with smiles. Some viewers also commented that the all-girl group “BINI” was only used as backup dancers for the two actors, which they found embarrassing.
Some netizens even claimed that the production numbers on “It’s Showtime” were better than those on ASAP, despite the latter being a weekly show. One of the most vocal critics was the well-known “alt account” of GMA, @AltGMA, who commented that ASAP was turning into Party Pilipinas.
“Papunta na sa Party Pilipinas ‘tong ASAP. Pito pitong prods na mukhang walang rehearsals,” the Twitter user noted.
A netizen shared that the call time for rehearsals on variety shows was often at 10 am, with only 30 minutes allocated for practicing the dance steps, followed by an hour-long session for wardrobe and makeup. Many felt that the issue lies with the production team rather than the performers themselves.
ASAP has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter, and it remains unclear how they will address the criticism.
Meanwhile, “ASAP” and “Party Pilipinas” are both musical variety shows in the Philippines. “ASAP” (All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party) is a long-running show on the ABS-CBN network, while “Party Pilipinas” was a show that aired on the GMA network from 2010 to 2013. Both shows featured performances from popular singers, actors, and dancers, as well as segments showcasing different genres of music and dance. There have been comparisons between the two shows, with some viewers preferring one over the other.
