Romnick Sarmenta Speaks On Winning Best Actor In 2023 Summer MMFF

Romnick Sarmenta: “Wala akong puwedeng sabihin kundi maraming salamat”

ROMNICK SARMENTA – The “About Us But Not About Us” star recently spoke about winning Best Actor in the 1st Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

Romnick starred in a psychological drama film “About Us But Not About Us” directed by Jun Robles Lana, who has been named Best Director during the first-ever awards night for the 1st Summer MMFF last April 11, 2023.

During the 1st Summer MMFF awards night held at the New Frontier theater in Quezon City, the actor said that getting nominated for Best Actor award is “very honoring” and “very flattering”.

When he found out that he and Elijah Canlas were both nominees for the Best Actor award, Romnick said that he would be thankful and happy even if he ended up not winning any award during the awards night for the 1st Summer MMFF.

Kahit sino ang manalo, masaya lang kami na napili yung pelikula namin at pinanuod ng mga tao. Yun naman yun,” he said. “But it’s very honoring, it’s very flattering. I am very grateful. Salamat sa mga nag-pu-push at nagsabi na dapat kaming ma-nominate. Wala akong puwedeng sabihin kundi maraming salamat

The actor also said that he only care for the success of the film but he didn’t expect that the movie won a total of 10 awards – including a Special Jury Prize that was awarded to his co-star Elijah Canlas.

Romnick also hopes that the public can give their film a chance by watching it in cinemas during its festival theatrical run until April 18, 2023.

With his Best Actor award, the veteran actor said that he just hopes to continue doing more work in order to further hone his craft. The actor also gave a hint about his next projects.

For my next projects, I’m not yet at liberty to talk about it but there are some things in the pipeline and I hope will watch it,” the actor said.
