Eric Quizon, son of Comedy King Dolphy, issues warning against company behind Banayad Whisky
ERIZ QUIZON – The son of the late King of Comedy filed a lawsuit against the owner of ‘Banayad Whisky’ for using the image of his father.
The son of the late King of Comedy in the Philippines, Dolphy, expressed his disappointment towards a whisky seller who was using his father’s image without permission. Eric Quizon, Dolphy’s son, posted a notice to the public stating that “Banayad Whisky” has no legal right to use his father’s image.
Quizon emphasized that any product or merchandise associated with the brand is not connected to Dolphy or his heirs. Quizon warned that any transaction related to Banayad Whisky would not be acknowledged by the Dolphy family.
According to Quizon, they have already talked to the company behind the product, but they became unresponsive when the heirs of Dolphy demanded them to stop selling the whisky. Quizon emphasized that the company is using his father’s image and the so-called whisky brand, which are patented and copyrighted. Quizon added that they have filed a case against the company.
The company behind the “Banayad Whisky” has yet to issue any statement regarding the case filed by the Quizons.
This is not the first time that Banayad Whisky Company faced issues. In February 2023, the FDA Philippines released a warning against the unregistered product. The said product was inspired by Dolphy’s 1995 movie “Father en Son,” where the comedian was seen advertising the fictional whisky brand in one of its scenes.
