Update on John Matthew Salilig Death Case
JOHN MATTHEW SALILIG – Six (6) suspects in the death of the Adamson University City are currently under the custody of police authorities.
The unexpected death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig sparked several headlines. The 3rd year chemical engineering student of Adamson died allegedly after a welcoming rites of the fraternity which he was a member of.
According to his brother, John Michael who is also a Tau Gamma Phi fraternity member, his younger sibling is already a member of the frat’s Zamboanga chapter so he was not worried when he informed him about attending to the welcoming rites.
Based on reports, the welcoming rites was held in a house in Biñan, Laguna. However, since his last contact to his brother, John Matthew went missing for a week.
After a week of being missing, the body of John Matthew Salilig was found buried in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite. Prior to it, one of his brothers got a text message telling him that his brother died after the welcoming rites and his body was buried in Cavite.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, six (6) suspects including the alleged master initiator of the welcoming rites are now under the custody of the police authorities. All of them cannot say how the victim died.
According to Biñan PNP Chief Police Colonel Virgilio Jopia, some of the statements of the suspects who speak out corroborate with each other’s claim of what happened. Based on the investigation, John Matthew Salilig died while inside a car in Parañaque City. Currently, four out of six detained suspects remain silent over the incident and at least 11 people are still at large. The family is determined to seek justice over the death of their youngest son and sibling.
