ARNIE TEVES – The Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative gave a message for President Bongbong Marcos amid the accusations against him.
Congressman Arnie Teves has yet to return to the Philippines. He is currently surrounded by accusations regarding some incidents that took place in Negros Oriental. The lawmaker fears for his and his family’s safety.
One of the suspects in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo accused Teves as the alleged mastermind in the plot. The Congressman is currently abroad.
Teves refused to go home even after the expiry of his travel clearance which lasted until March 9, 2023. He is worried about his and his family’s safety amid the accusations against him.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez previously confirmed that Teves called him “from an undetermined location”. He reiterated his call for the Congressman to go home and face the accusations against him.
Teves requested for a two-month leave from the House of Representatives. Romualdez declined his appeal and the House ethics panel demanded explanation for his failure to come home to the Philippines.
Recently, Cong. Arnie Teves released a video where he explained his side. He stressed that he is not hiding and he really wants to go home to the Philippines but he is worried about his safety. In the said video posted on Facebook, the Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative also called to Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
“Mr. President, sobra na yung ginagawa ng ibang tao sa gobyerno sa akin. Masyado na nila akong dinidiin, kinakawawa, at inaapi,” Teves said.
The Congressman stressed that he and Gov. Degamo are both victims in what is happening now. In the video posted on his social media account, he stressed that the Governor was surrounded by armies but he was still killed. He is worried for his security and refuses to go home despite the assurance of protection from the House and the authorities.
