Here’s an update on the ironed P1000 polymer banknote
ACCIDENTALLY MUTILATED BANKNOTE – The owner of the “ironed” P1000 polymer banknote gave an update.
On January 9, a certain Jonathan de Vera, 40, took to Facebook and shared about the P1000 banknote he had forgotten in the pocket of his ironed pants.
Days later, he gave an update about the bill. According to him, the banknote is “nasa BSP n po..dinala q po kanina..it will be checked daw po then they will give me heads up.”
As for whether the banknote would be replaced or not, he said: “I feel at ease. Sa totoo lang I am not worried since it is an accident talaga. If hindi mapalitan at kung ibabalik sa akin, i will just keep it; kung mapalitan, then it really is a good one.”
Jonathan, a communications and accounts specialist who is currently studying business administration, is awaiting for the response of BSP regarding the P1000 polymer banknote.
Meanwhile, it was on December 2021 when the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) posted a list of “Mga Pamantayang Biswal sa mga Salaping Papel na Mutilated o Sira-Sira.”
Here are the four Visual Fitness Criteria for Mutilated Banknotes of BSP:
- Tear, holes or missing parts of money
- Has an adhesive (for example: tape, sticker, glue, gum, or staple wire) or anything else attached to the money
- Separation of the front and back parts of the banknote
- Burnt or rot caused by water or chemical immersion
