Why did Dave Bautista end his friendship with Manny Pacquiao?
DAVE BAUTISTA – The Guardians of the Galaxy star ended his friendship with Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao following his anti-gay comment in 2016.
In a video clip that went viral on the video-sharing platform, TikTok, the Filipino-Greek professional wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor revealed why he covered the tattoo on his left arm, similar to Pacquiao.
“It used to be a team logo. I was part of a team of a person I considered a friend and someone I really looked up to,” he said.
Altough he did not drop any names, several international and local online media pointed out whom he’s referring to. He added: “And then, he later came out publicly with some anti-gay statements and turned out to be an extreme homophobe.”
Dave Bautista admitted it was a personal issue with him because his mom’s a lesbian. “And I just could no longer call him a friend. So, I had it covered up with this,” he said.
The actor covered the tattoo with a sugar skull face of a woman. Watch the video below as he explains the reason behind covering his tattoo:

It can be recalled that it was in 2016, Pacquiao was heavily criticized following his comment about same-s*x marriage. His statement earned criticism from LGBTQ+ community.
But in 2021, he retracted his statement against LGBTQ+ community stating: “Who am I to judge?” The former senator said those words during an interview for “Toni Talks” by television host-actress Toni Gonzaga-Soriano on Sept. 19.
