PhilHealth is expected to implement an additional 0.5% increase in the monthly contribution of PhilHealth members starting January 2023. The premium rate, according to a report, will increase to 4.5% next year from the current rate of 4%.

This increase is mandated under the Universal Health Care Act (Republic Act No. 11223). PhilHealth Corporate Communications Senior Manager Rey Balena said last Monday, December 12, that the yearly increase in the contribution rate will end in 2025.

Well, ito po ay hahanggan ng 2024, 2025,” Balena said.

According to him, the increase in contribution will be used to further enhance the state health insurer’s primary care benefit package or the “KonSulTa (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama)” package.

The said package, he said, will provide consultations, health-risk screenings, laboratory tests, and medicines as well.

He also said that this move will also help in funding other services of the state health insurer, adding that they are expected to roll out “outpatient package for mental health” and “outpatient therapeutic care for severe, acute malnutrition” next year.
