Ogie Diaz suspected that Family Matters had been politicized during Gabi ng Parangal
OGIE DIAZ – The talent manager/vlogger was suspecting that the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2022 entry “Family Matters” starring Agot Isidro became a victim of politicking during the awards night.
One of the official entries in the MMFF 2022 is Family Matters, directed by Nuel Naval. It centers on the story of the family of an elderly married couple; Francisco (Noel Trinidad) and Eleanor (Liza Lorena), and their children: Kiko (Nonie Buencamino), Fortune (Mylene Dizon), Ellen (Nikki Valdez), and Enrico (JC Santos).
In the movie, Ellen flies for the United States in a bid to find a romantic partner, leaving the three other siblings to take care of their parents. It also stars with Agot Isidro who plays the role of Kiko’s wife.
Apparently, the movie failed to covet more awards during the Gabi ng Parangal on Tuesday, December 27, held at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City. The film took home only one award, the Gatpuno J. Villegas Cultural Award.
But according to Ogie Diaz, the movie deserved to win the Best Picture. The said award was given to Nadine Lustre’s movie, Deleter.
Due to the results of the MMFF 2022 awards night, he’s suspecting that Family Matters became a victim of politicking. Diaz claimed that some politicians were involved in the Gabi ng Parangal committee.
“Nagtataka ako bakit hindi humakot ng awards ang ‘Family Matters e ang ganda, pagkaganda-gandang pelikula. Dyusko, dapat ‘yan nag-Best Picture,” he said.
Reportedly, Family Matters has already earned a total of P32-M since showing on December 25.
