This was after a certain Clive Reyes Jr. gave his opinion on the proposed P250-B ‘Maharlika Sovereign Wealth Fund’ of the congress. The said sovereign wealth fund will be used for “investments” which will help the government raise more funds.

But according to Reyes Jr., Speaker Romualdez, cousin of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. got the idea from the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). It can be recalled that 1MDB became a trending issue in Malaysia after a portion of the wealth fund was “pocketed” by former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

“Apparently, Speaker Romualdez got the idea for his proposed Maharlika sovereign fund from PM Najib Razak of Malaysia who was convicted of illegally using the state’s sovereign fund 1MDB for personal use. Pamilya magnanakaw talaga!” Reyes Jr. said. He also dubbed the sovereign wealth fund as an “investment scam.”

This prompted Atty. Topacio to give a message to Reyes Jr. According to him, someone from Congress just called him regarding his post. He noted: “Hi Clive. Someone from the House just called me. You might be hearing from us soon. Have a nice evening.”

Apparently, it is not known what’s next step of the lawyer but some netizens believed that Reyes Jr. might face a complaint. To recall, Topacio was also the lawyer who warned Audie Gemora he might be complained for what he said about former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
