It was on Saturday, December 10, Malacanang Palace hosted a meeting with President Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr. and bloggers. Apparently, some bloggers including Pebbles Cunanan and Maharlika criticized the meeting for Malacanang’s alleged poor treatment. They claimed that they were only fed with ensaymadas and juices during the meeting.

Maharlika stressed how the bloggers were poorly treated. In one of her posts, she compared the treatment given to bloggers versus the Malacañang Press Corps.

Amid the criticism that the Palace is receiving from bloggers, some netizens defended Malacanang because the event as they say is a “meet and greet” and not “meet and eat”.

Sass Rogando Sasot, international relations expert and political blogger, gave her two cents on the issue. According to Sasot, it is not nice for vloggers to complain about the food that was prepared for them,

She noted that it was inappropriate for Malacanang that they did not inform their visitors that they will only be served bread and juice. She also said that it is in the culture of the Filipinos that guests are served heavy meals at lunch and not bread.

“It’s equally bad manners to not inform your guests what you were serving or if you are serving anything at all for lunch. This is VERY important to keep in mind if the event is during the time we usually eat – breakfast, lunch, dinner,” she said.

The Palace has yet to issue any statement regarding this matter.
