Here’s the reaction of Darna director to negative comments thrown against the television series
BENEDICT MIQUE – The director of Mars Ravelo’s Darna has reacted the negative comments they are receiving from the netizens.
Mars Ravelo’s Darna is a superhero series airing on Kapamilya Channel. It is directed by Chito S. Roño, Avel Sunpongco and Benedict Mique. It stars Jane De Leon who plays the role of Darna/Narda Custodio: a young emergency medical technician.
Joshua Garcia, on the other hand, portrays the character of Police Master Sgt. Brian Samonte Robles in the series. He’s a young police officer and EMT at the same time Narda’s love interest. While Janella Salvador plays the role of Valentina/Atty. Regina Vanguardia: a lawyer and vlogger who is cursed with venomous snakes for her hair. She’s Darna’s archenemy and also has romantic feelings for Brian.
The series centers on the story of Narda who accepted her fate as Darna- the mighty protector of the potent stone from Planet Marte- when pieces of a green crystal scatter around the city and turn people into violent monsters.
Apparently, the series has earned a massive criticism from the netizens. It can be recalled that the series was heavily criticized on social media due to it’s fight scenes and low quality computer-generated imagery (CGI).
Amid the criticisms that the series has been receiving, Benedict Mique, one of the directors, broke his silence. According to him, they have read the comments of netizens. He admitted that they are really doing their best to satisfy the viewers despite the fact that they have a “limited market” albeit the absence of ABS-CBN network’s franchise.
The director believes that Darna has provided lots of jobs for those who are in the entertainment industry. He noted in an interview with Bandera that they learned a lot on top of the bashings that they are receiving. He’s proud that they are consistently number one in terms of online views.
“Nagpapasalamat din ako personally sa mga viewers dahil Darna has been consistently on top in terms of views online which I think is the trend right now because the audience has shifted online. Salamat,” she said.
