PSA is eyeing to make digital version of the national ID downloadable in December this year.
NATIONAL ID – The Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) said that it is eyeing to make the digital version of the national ID downloadable in December this year.
An ePhilID is the digital version of the Philippine Identification (PhilID) card that is printed at registration centers.
Engr. Fred Sollesta, officer-in-charge at the PhilSys Registry Office, said during the public briefing on Thursday that the PSA is eyeing to launch downloadable ePhilID in December this year.
Sollesta, however, said that this is only for those who gave their cellphone numbers.
“Maybe this December we can launch na ‘yung downloadable ePhilID. Para naman ito sa ating mga mamamayan na may mga access sa internet, may mga device na mag store talaga ng digital na version,” Sollesta said. “Kasi mag a-ano ‘yan, ‘yung process natin diyan ay magpapadala ‘yan ng one-time password using the number na binigay nila during step two registration.”
Sollesta also said that 3.6 million ePhilIDs have been issued as of November 23, 2022.

Sollesta, meanwhile, said that 75.1 million Filipinos have registered for step two of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), adding that those who wish to register may go to the appointment system of the PSA here.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) previously announced last month that ePhilIDs can be used and accepted in applying for passports.
In an advisory, the DFA-Office of Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) said the public is advised that the details in ePhilID must be clear, readable, and contain the same details as the presented documentary requirements during the passport application.
