Amores is currently making a buzz after throwing punches during the JRU vs CSB game in the NCAA Season 98 tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Tuesday, November 8.

Migs Oczon of College of St. Benilde had just secured a three-point shot (71-51) when cameras rolled to Amores and CSB’s CJ Flores getting entangled on the floor. Amores was then involved in an altercation with the referee.

JRU’s coaching staff escorted Amores out of the game while the latter continued to yell at someone on the opposing bench. He eventually charged at CSB players and threw punches, hitting several rival cagers.

Mark Sangco of CSB attempted to stop Amores by punching him. But it only fueled Amores’ rage. Taine Davis was hit in the jaw, and Jimboy Pasturan was hit in the eye. Security then escorted Amores to the dugout.

According to Sen. JV Ejercito, Amores should no longer be allowed to play in any basketball league. He tweeted: “John Amores should be banned for life in any basketball league. What he did on court on an NCAA game is a bad impression on our youth.”

Ejercito suggests that Amores should join boxing or UFC instead. He said: “He should try UFC or boxing instead. Will be glad to be the first to spar with him at Elorde! Try the sweet science this time!”

Meanwhile, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has slapped an indefinite suspension on Amores following the incident. He committed numerous offenses such as pointing a finger at a referee, disrespecting the ManCom representative and court officials, charging toward the CSB bench, which sparked a brawl, making provocative gestures that sparked a fight, and punching four CSB players.
