Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on “Maid in Malacañang” Movie
IMEE MARCOS – The lady Senator made a revelation regarding the controversial film “Maid in Malacañang” which told their family’s story.
One of the most controversial films in the Philippines this 2022 is “Maid in Malacañang” which detailed the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in Malacañang Palace prior to their exile to Hawaii amid the People Power Revolution based on their story. It gained different reactions from the people.
There are Filipinos who supported the movie and there are also those from whom the film received backlash. There were accusations that the movie is a sort of distorting the history of the Philippines. It was directed by filmmaker Darryl Yap who also became a controversial personality in the country due to the film.
Maid in Malacañang starred actor Cesar Montano as the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.; actress-beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez as the former First Lady Imelda Marcos; and Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, and Ella Cruz as Imee, Bongbong, and Irene Marcos.
Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos spoke regarding the controversial film Maid in Malacañang. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, speaking to the Filipino community in The Netherlands during her European trip with the other lawmakers.
Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed that Maid in Malacañang will have a sequel. According to her, it is still being penned by director Darryl Yap. She expressed her gratitude on the efforts for the screening of the film and its showing in Utrecht.
Based on the report, the lady Senator and former presidential daughter said that they waited 30 years to tell their side of the story. She is the producer of the said controversial film.
In the said film, the late former President Cory Aquino was played by actress-comedian Giselle Sanchez. However, in the said movie, the late former President was depicted playing mahjong with the nuns who provided sanctuary for her. It gained negative criticisms from a lot of viewers.
