TOP 10 RICHEST PROVINCES IN THE PHILIPPINES – The Commission on Audit (COA) released the 10 wealthiest provinces in the country.

The Philippines is composed of a lot of cities and provinces that produce different sets of crops, boast with different travel destinations, set different unique records, etc. The local government units have different ways of running their cities and provinces as well. There are different programs and activities held and the government budget they receive may differ based on the population in a certain place.

Annually, the Commission on Audit or more commonly called COA releases a financial report revealing the assets of the different local governments across the nation. It lists the Top 10 richest provinces in the Philippines 2021 based on their LGU’s assets.

In 2020, Quezon City was named as the richest when it comes to the wealthiest local governments in the Philippines. In 2021, it was able to maintain its spot as the frontrunner in the list.

Based on a report on Inquirer, aside from being the richest local government unit across the nation, Quezon City an “unqualified opinion” from COA for the second time around. The commission said that the said recognition is given to local governments that were able to comply the financial statements and material requirements as per the applicable financial reporting framework.

Makati City was also able to maintain being on the 2nd spot of the list. With regards to the Top 10 Richest Provinces in the Philippines or the wealthiest provincial governments, the province of Cebu topped the list. The province is on the 3rd rank if both city and provincial LGUs’ assets are combined.
