President Bongbong Marcos: “So, I congratulate Bacolod City for holding possibly and I think, I’m correct here, when I say the most successful MassKara festival in the history of Bacolod City”
PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS — The President congratulated Bacolod City for holding the “most successful” MassKara Festival after a 2-year hiatus.
The President graced the culmination activity of the month-long celebration of the MassKara Festival at the Paglaum Sports Complex in the city, accompanied by Ilocos Representative Sandro Marcos and Senator Francis Tolentino.
With the festival’s theme, “Balik Yuhum!”, the MassKara Festival is back for its 43rd-year celebration after a 2-year hiatus because of COVID-19 pandemic.
Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, and some Bacolod local officials were also in attendance. Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan is also present during the program.
In his speech, the President said that Bacolod City showed the country and the world that the Philippines is keen on going back to normal. He also cited the history of the festival, saying that MassKara Festival showed Filipinos’ resourcefulness and resilience.
“Kaya’t nabuhay ang MassKara Festival sa kahirapan at sa kalungkutan,” the President said. “At ang pagbalik ng MassKara Festival ngayon ay nangggaling sa kahirapan at sa kalungkutan. Ngunit, makikita na natin na iniwanan na natin ang kahirapan at kalungkutan at ipinakita na ng mga tiga-Bacolod na tayo ay bumalik na at masaya na naman ulit at bumalik sa ating mga labi ang ating mga ngiti.“
The MassKara Festival started in 1980s when a series of sugar crisis suffered by Negrenses and Bacolodnons.

Aside from this, President Bongbong Marcos also thanked the Bacolod City government for launching its comprehensive health program and its projects for senior citizens.
President Bongbong Marcos also took the opportunity to thank the people of Bacolod City for their warm welcome. He also recalled his previous visit to the city during the election campaign.
