Percy Lapid was shot dead
PERCY LAPID – A radio broadcaster and columnist was shot dead on Monday evening, October 3, in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.
Percival Mabasa, the broadcaster’s real name, was a columnist for Hataw and the host of the online broadcast program “Percy Lapid Fire” at DWBL 1242.
According to the victim’s relative, Lapid was on his way home to do an online broadcast when he was shot several times at the gate of BF Resort Village at around 8:30 p.m.
Las Piñas City Police cited in a report, the victim was in his vehicle when a suspect on board a Toyota Fortuner suddenly bumped into the rear portion of his car, a Toyota Innova.
The police said that the other suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, shot the victim and fled in an unknown direction.
The crime scene yielded two empty shells of unknown caliber.
The police have also begun collecting CCTV footage to aid in the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday that a special investigation task force has been formed to look into the fatal shooting.
The broadcaster’s body has already been taken to a funeral home.
Percy Lapid was a broadcaster who was known for his furious commentaries on different happenings in the country, especially in politics.
He claimed to be related to Senator Lito Lapid. He has, however, long denied his relationship with the senator, even referring to him as “walang kwentang tao.”
