Update on Hurricane Ian Death Toll in the United States
HURRICANE IAN DEATH TOLL – The authorities in the different states in America reported the deaths related to hurricane Ian.
Calamities are among the incidents that countries can prepare for but their extent and the damages they could cause has the possibility of going beyond massive preparations. This happens not just due to the power of calamities to bring structures down but as well as the fact that they can hardly be predicted unless they are only a few days away from hitting the place.
There were several incidents in the past when calamities caused the loss of lives and extreme damages in structures and livelihood. Recently, several states in America were hit by a strong storm, hurricane Ian.
The authorities recently gave an update on the hurricane Ian death toll. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Florida Medical Examiners Commission said that the storm-related deaths have reached 102.
According to the report, most of the deaths were recorded in Florida’s Southwest. Homes and businesses including restaurants were damaged by the calamity.
The governor of North Carolina also reported 5 fatalities in their state due to hurricane Ian. After making landfall, the hurricane passed over Florida and moved to the Atlantic Ocean before going ashore and taking the South Carolina coast now.
According to the officials, it may take months and, possibly, $50 billion or more, for Florida to recover from the damages caused by hurricane Ian. It is one of the deadliest calamity to have hit U.S. in this century.
In 2005, U.S. was hit by hurricane Katrina which left some 1,800 deaths and extreme damages that cost billions. In 2012, superstorm Sandy left the country with huge damages and some 120 fatalities.
