Photo of Bato dela Rosa together with Robin Padilla and Richard Gomez
BATO DELA ROSA – The senator took to social media wherein he posted a photo of him alongside the former showbiz rivals, Sen. Robin Padilla and Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez
The photo of them was taken during the birthday celebration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
His post was accompanied by the caption: “Two actors turned politicians and one actor- actor turned politician.”
In the photo he shared on the social networking site, Facebook, many recalled the past rift between Padilla and Gomez during the 1991 Star Olympics.
One netizen caught his attention after commenting: “Sir Sen peace na duha ? Basin mag sumbagay pod na haha.”
To which he replied: “akoy referee ani.”
Star Olympics is a gathering of famous actors who compete in sports.
At the time, Padilla and Gomez chose to play basketball which is considered a physical sport.
In the video which continues to spread on social media, Padilla can be seen punching Gomez which shocked thousands of fans.
Late actor Rudy Fernandez who meddled during their fight was also present in the said video.
The conflict between Padilla and Gomez started in 1990.
According to stories, Padilla doesn’t have a plan to join Star Olympics at the time since he has a project in Baguio.
But when he read the statement of Gomez in a newspaper wherein the latter called him “lampa”, he left Baguio and went to Star Olympics to face him.
One of the possible reasons why they fought was because of Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
Now, it can be deduced that the conflict between the two actors who turned out to be politicians is really over.
“Marami kaming hindi pinagkakasunduan ni Richard Gomez lalo sa pag-ibig, sa babae… Pero pagdating sa pag-ibig sa Bayan at sa pagbabago wala akong masasabi sa taong ito kundi matapat at marangal,” Padilla told Gomez in a letter in 2016.
