Here’s the reaction of Korina Sanchez to overpricing in Panglao, Bohol
KORINA SANCHEZ – The television host and broadcast journalist reacted to overpricing at the Virgin Island in Panglao, Bohol.
Virgin Island, a 20-minute boat ride away from Panglao, made a buzz earlier after a netizen shared that her friend was charged over 26,000 pesos in a seafood “paluto.”
But the vendor denied that there was overpricing. Apparently, the damage has been done. All the tourist activities on the island have been suspended and the stalls were removed by the local government unit.
For Korina Sanchez-Roxas, businessmen who benefit from the country’s tourism should stop exploiting tourists visiting their places. In other words, stop taking advantage of them.
According to her, she understands how the public reacted after seeing the price of the food considering that the country is no stranger to seafood.
She believes that the country’s image is only being tarnished because of such incidents.
Sanchez also requested that the incident be thoroughly investigated and that it serve as a warning to other establishments taking advantage of the local and foreign tourists.
“Let this be a warning to opportunistic vendors. We want tourists to return, hopefully with relatives and friends in tow. Not leave with a bad taste in the mouth due to five-star hotel seafood prices on a sandbar,” she said.
Here’s the opinion of Korina Sanchez about overpricing in Bohol which was posted on the Facebook page, The Freeman:
Meanwhile, only sightseeing is allowed on the island in the meantime.
