Open letter of Kelsey Furigay
KELSEY FURIGAY – The daughter of former Lamitan Mayor Rose Furigay admitted in a social media post that her family has been receiving threats from the supporters of Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol, the suspect in the Ateneo de Manila University shooting incident wherein the ex-mayor was killed.
It was on Sunday, July 24, 2022, when a shooting incident took place at the said university.
Three persons were killed including former Lamitan City Mayor Rosita “Rose” Furigay, her aide Victor George Capistrano, and Jeneven Bandiala, a security guard of the university.
The former mayor was supposed to attend the graduation of her daughter Hannah from law school when Dr. Yumol went on a killing spree. Hannah was also wounded in the incident.
The police arrested Dr. Yumol, 38, who’s also a resident of Lamitan City. Recovered from the scene was a caliber.45 pistol with a silencer. He was arrested on the same day of the shooting. A personal grudge was cited as the motive behind the killing.
Meanwhile, according to Kelsey Furigay, the daughter of slain Lamitan ex-mayor Rose Furigay, her family has been receiving threats from the supporters of Dr. Yumol.
Kelsey, went to social media wherein she penned an open letter pleading with netizens to stop spreading fake news.

She also asked the public to give them time to grieve.
It can be recalled that it was on Friday, July 29 when Dr. Yumol’s father Rolando Yumol was killed in front of their house in Lamitan City, Basilan.
The lawyer of Furigay’s family has denied that his client has something to do with the killing of the elder Yumol.
